BCB extends NOCs for Shoriful Islam and Nahid Rana by one day for PSL clash
Peshawar Zalmi has a PSL match on the horizon—and two Bangladesh pacers just got a timing lifeline.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has granted a one-day extension to the No Objection Certificates (NOCs) issued to pacers Shoriful Islam and Nahid Rana. That means they can remain in Pakistan for longer than originally planned, keeping them available for Peshawar Zalmi’s next league fixture in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). What really stands out is how tightly this lines up with the league schedule.
In an official press release issued on Sunday, the BCB confirmed the update came after a formal request from their PSL franchise, Peshawar Zalmi, and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). “The decision has been made following a request from their PSL franchise, Peshawar Zalmi, as well as the Pakistan Cricket Board,” the BCB said in the statement.
Originally, the NOCs for Shoriful Islam and Nahid Rana were valid until April 12, 2026. Under the revised arrangement, the change now allows both players to stay in Pakistan for the PSL fixture scheduled for 13 April 2026. The BCB said: “Shoriful Islam and Nahid Rana were originally granted NOCs valid until 12 April 2026. Under the revised arrangement, both players have been permitted to remain in Pakistan for Peshawar Zalmi’s scheduled PSL fixture on 13 April 2026.”
Peshawar Zalmi, meanwhile, are riding momentum in the tournament. They sit at the top of the points table after securing four wins from their five matches. Next up on Monday is a crucial encounter against Multan Sultans as the league stage moves forward. The timing raises questions—because it also keeps Bangladesh selections in the spotlight just as the international calendar begins to heat up.
Even as the PSL decision lands, both Shoriful and Rana remain in Bangladesh’s plans for the upcoming international assignment. They’ve been named in the 15-member squad for the first two One-Day Internationals of the three-match series against New Zealand, starting on April 17. Per the schedule, the opening two matches are set to be played at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka on April 17 and 20, with the third ODI scheduled for April 23 in Chattogram. Mehidy Hasan Miraz will continue to lead the team, alongside established names including Litton Das and Taskin Ahmed—plus Shoriful—and younger talents such as Rishad Hossein and Nahid.
