Mild Temperatures Take a Bow as Chilly Forecast Looms

We have been on quite the meteorological rollercoaster lately. Temperatures climbed from the 30s on Monday to the 40s on Tuesday and 50s yesterday, finally hitting the 60s today. It’s a nice little temp trend we have going here, but it’s a trend that ends after today. Honestly, it feels like we are squeezing every last drop of warmth out of the atmosphere before the inevitable flip. Tomorrow morning starts with scattered showers and temperatures hovering near 40 degrees, but the rain should slide offshore by mid-morning. By the afternoon, dry weather wins out, and with a southwest breeze and some breaks of sun, it will remain a mild day for many.

However, the reprieve from the cold is brief.

As we head into tonight, the wind will begin to kick up, reaching gusts of 25-30mph. More rain is expected to move through this evening, keeping temperatures in the 50s for a while. By 7 a.m. Friday, the rain will have pushed off the south coast, causing our mild temperatures to slide back into the 40s. While Friday will be largely dry with a chilly breeze and a bit of returning sun, the atmosphere is clearly preparing for a much harsher transition. The core of the cold air is waiting in the wings to drop in tomorrow night, signaling a real shift in the season.

Saturday will feel like a stark reality check. The thermometers are set to plunge, with lows dropping deep into the 20s and highs struggling to break out of the 30s. It’s the kind of air that catches you off guard if you aren’t prepared with a heavy coat. Thankfully, we will see a recovery by Sunday afternoon, with temperatures rebounding into the 45-50 range, which is much more seasonable for this time of year. Despite the inevitable chill, the good news from US News Hub Misryoum is that the weekend is looking dry from start to finish. We’ll take the sunshine, even if it comes with a bite.
