Spring Arrives with a Mix of Sun and Showers

Spring officially touched down at 10:46 this morning, and while Mother Nature graced us with a beautiful start, the clouds are already thickening. According to US News Hub Misryoum, we should expect showers to move in this evening, though they are slated to clear out by midnight. This transition effectively sets the stage for a much cleaner start to our weekend. Honestly, if you are looking to get outside, Saturday is your best bet. Behind the passing front, the sun is expected to make a welcome return, providing a fairly pleasant day with highs near 50°. It’s going to be a bit breezy, but given it is still March, that’s not a bad deal at all.

Sunday is a completely different story, as the region prepares for overcast skies and persistent, cooler temperatures.

Our northern neighbors in the Merrimack Valley are going to struggle to see the thermometer move much, while areas south of the Mass Pike will fare slightly better, sitting just a few degrees cooler than Saturday. Even there, the gray skies make it a less than ideal day for outdoor festivities. Fortunately, the precipitation during daylight hours is expected to be isolated. You might have to dodge a few raindrops here and there, but Sunday is by no means a washout. Just don’t get too comfortable, as things shift again once the sun dips below the horizon.

As we look ahead to Sunday night and Monday, those scattered showers are expected to become significantly more numerous. The transition in the forecast is a classic New England spring scenario. We are watching a significant wall of cold air trailing behind this front, which is poised to drop temperatures considerably. By Monday, as the moisture slowly tracks south, there is a legitimate chance that the rain will transition over to snow. It’s the kind of weather event where it might snow, but likely won’t stick, though our team at US News Hub Misryoum will be tracking it closely all weekend.

Temperatures are set to fall from their current perch, potentially leaving us stuck in the 30s by Monday morning. It’s a bit of a reality check after today’s mild debut. While you might see a stray flurry or sprinkle early Sunday morning, the bulk of the activity will favor the later part of the day. If you have errands to run, prioritize the morning hours. Just keep an eye on the update from Kristina and Kelly over the next forty-eight hours, as this spring forecast remains a moving target for the entire region.
